The ACT Construction Occupations Registrar has approved the following courses for the qualifications stated below:

Asbestos assessor (A class or B class) qualification

The Course in Asbestos Assessment with a national accreditation number "80806ACT".

Asbestos removalist (A class or B class) qualification

The Course in Asbestos Removal and Supervision with a national accreditation number "80804ACT".

Asbestos qualification for handling small amounts (less than 10 square metres) of bonded asbestos

(the qualification gained from successful completion of any 1 of the following courses)

The Course in Identification and Safe Handling of Asbestos with a national accreditation number "80803ACT" OR
The Course in Asbestos Removal and Supervision with a national accreditation number "80804ACT" OR
Any course that would entitle a person to supervise or remove bonded asbestos under a licence or registration in an Australian jurisdiction.

Please note: Other mandatory qualifications in relation to the occupations stated above have not been stated here.

Please note: In addition to meeting the qualifications required to handle asbestos, under ACT law, people working with asbestos have several professional responsibilities and standards that apply to their work and restrict the type of work that can be done.
